Born in 2008, Steyburn competed internationally up to the 1.50m-level with Peter Moloney (IRL), earning wins and multiple top placings in 1.40m–1.45m classes. One of the highlights of Steyburn’s career is competing with Moloney at the Royal Dublin Horse Show CSIO5*, where she finished top-10 in the 1.45m–1.50m Speed Championship.
Steyburn’s sire, Careful, competed up to the five-star level with his rider, Jannike West-Schou (SWE). After retirement in 2011, Careful went on to a successful but, sadly, short-lived breeding career, covering a select number of mares. His resulting offspring went on to success in the show ring, especially his son Tailormade Cavetta, who competed at the five-star level with Danish rider Soren Pedersen, earning consistent wins and top placings in 1.45m and 1.50m classes.
Steyburn’s dam, Bush Mills (by Bold Indian XX), competed at the 1.40m level with Martin Svärd in the early 1990s. Steyburn is the only known horse out of this dam line.
